The Lord's Supper

The Lord's Supper is the crown jewel in the the Divine Service. It is as we receive this gift that we are overwhelmed by the presence of our Lord. We join together in this feast with all angels, archangels, and the whole company of heaven. It is a foretaste of the feast to come and it helps us identify our brothers and sisters in Christ. Luther emphasizes the importance of the Sacrament:

For this reason we go to the Sacrament: there we receive such a treasure by and in which we gain forgiveness of sins... Because the words stand here and give us this. Therefore, Christ asks me to eat and drink, so that this treasure may be my own and may benefit me as a sure pledge and token. In fact, it is the very same treasure that is appointed for me against my sins, death, and every disaster. On this account it is indeed called a food of souls, which nourishes and strengthens the new man (Martin Luther, The Large Catechism, para. 22-23).

Below you will find the series of sermons and services about the Lord's Supper and the wonderful gifts it brings.
